# The buses of Christchurch, every route in the stop record

36 routes in Environment Canterbury’s Metro stop layer, ranked by the stops each calls at. The layer sits in ECan’s Beta tree, current as the last bake, not the last timetable.

The HTML page draws the network: 30 driven paths from Metro’s current GTFS feed (Mobility Database mirror mdb-1313, CC-BY 3.0 NZ), in the colour each route wears. Where the feed and the older layer disagree on a number, the feed is the fresher record.

Paying: since November 2025 a contactless card, phone or watch tags on like a Metrocard (same fares, no surcharge); concessions link at motumove.govt.nz. On 23 November 2026 Metrocard, SuperGold and cash stop being accepted, and tag-off applies.

## Questions, answered briefly

**How many bus routes does Christchurch have?**

36 routes in the stop record, calling at 3,078 platforms, the Greater Christchurch network in Environment Canterbury’s layer, not just the city’s.

**Which Christchurch bus route serves the most stops?**

1, 207 stops in the record. Every route is on this page with its stop count.

**When is the next bus at my stop?**

The board at the top of this page reads Metro’s live predictions, pick your stop or let it find the ones near you, and it counts each bus down to the minute, refreshing as the buses move.

**Where does the bus data come from?**

Two public layers, Metro’s GTFS feed draws the driven paths, and ECan’s stop layer (their Beta tree) lists the platforms and the routes each one serves; live positions and arrival times come from Metro’s realtime feed.
