The high ceilings and wooden floors give it a great "old" vibe, but the gorgeous fireplace is the real hero - it kept the whole place perfectly toasty on a cold autumn day. ​The food is stunningly presented, but it’s the quality that wins: sourdough buttered to perfection and bacon cooked exactly right (soft with a crunch, and zero chewy bits). I especially loved the beans that came with the breakfast; they had a fantastic spicy kick and a deep flavor. As for the coffee? Absolutely banging. Im from South Auckland and no matter where I go I always try to find things that make me feel like home and driving out to this sleepy seaside village from Ilam was probably the furtherest from home I have been in Aotearoa but stumbling upon this cafe was a true hidden gem!!! It was packed and rightly so, from the coffee to the cake and the historic art on display to the live Dj, yall really got me! It was the KiaOra for me, nobody says that much down here like they do up north and it's such a beautiful thing to find.
