Te Rūnanga o Koukourārata's marae at Port Levy, once the largest Māori settlement in Canterbury. Its whare Tūtehuarewa — raised by Māori and Pākehā together in the 1920s — is one of very few whare tūpuna in the country named for a woman. Huikai of this place was the father of Tautahi, the chief Ōtautahi is named for.
