> This bend on Wairakei Rd, just outside church is extremely dangerous for cyclists. I lost count of how many times I very nearly got wiped out when commuting and witnessed other cyclists having same issue. I called council and reported - with less than satisfactory response previously. I was driving one day and saw another very close miss and offered my support to the cyclist. So as not to be hit I made it a practice to sit on the white line which then worked to encourage drivers to go wide as well. Today I sat for 2mins and in that time more than 95% of cars went inside the white line. It is a habit that needs breaking before someone is killed or injured.
