> Concern regarding the lack of safe pedestrian amenity following changes to the road layout. Many walkers walk along Worsleys arias between East Valley reserve and the Cashmere Esplanade Stream reserve. The new stormwater area off Worsleys will only add to the appeal of this area for walkers. Once again pedestrian safety has been compromised by a new road layout which upholds vehicle safety over pedestrian safety. The photos show that walkers used to use the wide grass berm to walk safely off the road but this is far less possible now that the road has been widened. Is there any planned provision for safe walking in this area? I have already sought a request to have pedestrian safety improved where a large metal barrier was placed slightly further up Worsleys which has meant pedestrians are forced to use the roadway now rather than being able to walk on the grass. Overall I am very disappointed in how these roading initiatives have been handled. The new Worsleys layout has definitely increased traffic speed along there as the carriageway is wider and encourages higher speed. At the same time you have decreased the safety for pedestrians at a time when the amenities in the neighbourhood have been increased so as to encourage greater recreation and therefore more walkers.
