# Rubbish/Recycling, 18 Settlers Crescent, Ferrymead, Christchurch 8023, New Zealand

Ferrymead, Christchurch · filed 1 May 2022 · report 2325051

> Significant amount of pre-production plastic pellets littered on the ground by Avon-Heathcote Estuary/Te Ihutai. Plastic manufacturer NZPlastics.com backs on to the area. A scientific study published this year documents this type of pollution as a problem in the estuary: https://doi.org/10.3390/microplastics1010005. One of the sample sites is just 400m downstream of this location. In addition, Sustainable Coastlines' Litter Intelligence surveys have documented pellet presence as "Widespread: 10-100 pellets seen along the survey area" 3x times in the past year. Both of these evidence the issue as long standing and highlight the need for it to be addressed. Any further questions please get in contact.
