> Jennifer Bryan 31 Nicholls Road Halswell 021 621 244 Offensive smell. The issue of an offensive effluent smell has been a historical problem. I have resided here for 5 years, during which time the intensity and frequency of the odour emanating from the bathroom area of 29 Nicholls Road has increased. The distance between both houses is unusually small (approximately 2 metres), meaning the location of the problem area is close to my back door. There is a narrow pathway along that side of my property to access the rear and it seems the smell gets “trapped” so to speak. It gets worse in the late afternoon and evening and often permeates the east side of my home. Obviously high temperatures enhance the odour too. I have planted Jasmine over the shared fence, endeavoured to block the bottom of the fence from where the smell appears to come, and obviously close the doors and windows on that side of my home.
