> In Hoon Hay we are getting used to having to navigate around road cones and detours to get to and from school each day.. I have 4 children and we walk around from victors road to Hoon Hay school on sparks road.. but this week we found our corner blocked.. on both sides the footpath was inaccessible and no area was created to walk through. So I’ve had to ask each day how we are meant to get through and they have opened an area on the spot and asked us to walk through past the digger and over the dig up road/path.. today my 9 year old got there to no way through and nobody was on site.. so he walked around on victors road and followed the cones out onto sparks road until he was back at the path.. this is not a safe place for a child to be walking.. and I was not happy to find the area how it was when I followed him 5 minutes later.. somebody had shown up at this point and moved the cones so I could walk between.. after school they had left site completely and left the corner open to walk over the dug up area again.. I’m guessing with the rain they couldn’t work.. but what happens the rest of the week/weeks until it’s finished? Sorry this is so long but it’s just so dangerous and frustrating when I have mentioned it every day to the workers and been shrugged off like it’s out of their hands.. there must be a way to create a safe walking zone for school kids.. it’s not like we had the option to cross over.. and even so crossing over sparks road is into more road works with the cycle lane. Tomorrow my son will be walking with us just in case
