> Tuesday 20 August 8.15 am Black ice developed across both sides of the road on the Heathcote River bridge between Richardson Terrace and Clarendon Terrace. This was on a -4°C morning, preceded by flooding of Heathcote River onto Clarendon Terrace/Richardson Terrace the previous Sunday/Monday. Cars had tracked water up onto Opawa Road bridge after driving through the flooded water along the river, and this water had frozen on the bridge on the Tuesday morning. Unfortunately on the Tuesday morning, approaching northwards from Aynsley Terrace, I came off my moped after slipping on the black ice on the bridge. I did not have enough time or space to react to it after coming around the corner. Most of the road width had frozen over. Thankfully, I ended up with no injuries aside from minor bruising, helped by the 30km/hr speed limit. Emergency services did not need to be called. Whilst I didn't take any photos, I thought this should be reported incase the future risk could be minimised.
