Civil defence, right now
Road closures, evacuations and emergency notices, straight from the council’s own civil defence layer.
- Nothing. No civil defence event, no closure, no notice, which is what this page says on almost every day of the year, and is the best thing on the site when it does.
What lands here the four kinds of notice
The council’s civil defence layer files four kinds of thing, and this page shows all of them the moment they appear.
In an actual emergency the official word is the council’s, this page is a mirror of the same layer it reads, not a replacement for it.
What this actually is
This is the only source on the site that is allowed to interrupt you. It is the council’s live civil defence layer, event areas, event points, road closures and road incidents, and it is uncapped and pinned to the top of the feed whenever it has anything in it, because a page that rations a civil defence notice to its fair share of the screen has misunderstood the job. The closure layer carries real dates where the record has them; the event layers carry none, and an undated notice is shown as in force rather than inventing a timestamp for it, a row only exists here while it is live.
