The reporter’s words

As attached there is going to be a significant and prolonged further road closure in the Halswell Quarry area resulting from residential subdivision works. While I appreciate this work presumably needs to be carried out, I’m not so sure that there has been any form of traffic management plan to mitigate the issues for the local residents. For those on Kennedys Bush Road, as we are, wishing to go into town or in that general direction, it leaves us with only one route option rather than the three that we currently have, and that is to turn right onto the State highway from Halswell to Akaroa. This is a very busy road and turning right is problematic and in many cases dangerous. I have been in touch with both the city council and NZTA over this in the past and all that seems to have happened is a lot of playing around with the intersection next to the primary school but no permanent satisfactory solution has yet been put in place. What will it take to get some action here? I am happy to meet with any of the roading engineers from the City council or NZTA to describe my concerns and try and come up with some workable solutions. My cell phone number is (02) 7591 0053.
