Roading/Streets
Reported Friday, 22 May 2020 at 6:07 pm, Deans Avenue, Christchurch, Canterbury, 8011, New Zealand.
The reporter’s words
The pedestrian lights at the crossing from the park appear to be two independent sets. This is dangerous in that someone arriving at the side of the road from the park can see a Green cross now light on the far side of the road and can assume it is safe to cross. At the same time the traffic on the park side of the road can still have a green arrow allowing cars to continue. This seems to be able to happen if the pedestrian from the park side has not yet pressed the button and activated a Red don’t cross indicator on the park side of the road. This evening a pedestrian nearly walked out onto the road with traffic still coming round the corner from the Fendalton road intersection. Please change this so that both sides are synchronised to either allow or stop pedestrians . Thank you
