The reporter’s words

No traffic management consent to put up "no parking" cones. The builders on the site (one in particular) have been rude and threatening to residents nearby, saying that residents cannot park there, and that they will get their cars towed and that the builders will tell their subcontractors driving trucks into the site to just hit any cars parked on the side of the road. Bishop St doesn't have any kerbside parking restrictions, so it is used as parking by central city workers during business hours. I understand that the builders need access to their equipment in their vehicles, but intimidating residents and making empty threats to tow vehicles and damage private property (our cars) is not the way to go about it, especially when they are dealing with separate incidents of different cars, rather than repeated parking by the same person. A couple of weeks ago they wrote "move ya car" in permanent marker ON the windscreen of my partner's car, and when confronted about it, were non-apologetic, rude, and threatened to get him towed next time. He normally wouldn't park there, but there were no parks available on our side of the road during the weekend, so it wasn't until Tuesday afternoon that he went to check in his car and discovered the vandalism across his windscreen. Unfortunately he cleaned it off without taking a photo. They have also been using the empty site at 10 Bishop St as parking for their vehicles, despite not having permission to do that either.
