The reporter’s words

Sunday 30/8/20 whilst travelling north on Sparks Rd at approx 2045hrs. I was approaching the intersection of Sparks Rd and Pablo Place. As the road is extremely narrow here and with oncoming vehicle lights being close to the centre line, I was keeping my left wheels very close to the white painted left hand road marking. As I crossed Pablo Place my left wheels hit the raised kerb as shown in the attached photo. As you can see, the left hand road marking actually merges with the line of this kerb. I managed to keep control of my car until I could safely pull over and work out what had happened. Fortunately my wife and I were uninjured and able to get safely home on the damaged wheels. I consider this road design to have serious safety issues due to there being no warning signage or reflective device to make a driver aware of the hazard existing here. I wish to claim the full cost of my replacement tyres and wheel alignment from the roading contractor responsible for this dangerous design and construction if you could advise me who is the party responsible. I would need this information to take up a civil claim with CCC and NZTA. Thank you Sincerely DavidHigginsin
