Facility - General Request
Reported Monday, 21 September 2020 at 1:43 pm, 341, Halswell Road, Halswell, Canterbury, 8025, New Zealand.
The reporter’s words
Why are the lights left on in Te Hapua library 24/7? I biked past it last night and it was lit up like a Christmas tree, and this is always the case. The library is open 62 hours out of 128 hours per week, which is 37% of the time. Turning the lights off after hours would reduce electricity consumption from lighting by 63%, saving precious opex and reducing our carbon footprint (contributing to our goal of net zero emissions by 2030). All libraries and facilities should turn off their lights after hours, Te Hapua certainly isn’t the only Council facility with its lights on after hours. I look forward to your response.
