The reporter’s words

There's a subdivision development going on around my place at 123 Kennedys Bush rd and a footpath has been installed at the front of our house and therefore the drainage ditch out front has been reshaped. We have had problems previously with water flooding our front yard and going under our house during major rain events, we sent photos of this a few years back and were told someone would sort it but nothing happened. Previously after moderate to heavy rain any water in the ditch would be gone within 24 hours but it seems now it just sits as a still murky pool outside our property for days or even weeks at a time. Talking to the main contractor last week we were told that they thought it was a poor design and that the council were trying to spend as little money as possible and that the pooling outside our property will be the new normal. It seems crazy to me that the ditch is being left open in an area where hundreds of people walk, run and cycle daily it's a public saftey and health hazard and I thought development of an area was meant to enhance it not negatively affect existing properties and residents. Regards Shane
