Roading/Streets
Reported Sunday, 29 November 2020 at 7:27 am, Moorhouse Avenue, Canterbury 8011, New Zealand.
The reporter’s words
When trying to turn right from Moorhouse to Lincoln Road on the 10 Nov at around 5.45pm, the turn arrow would only go green about every 3rd cycle of the traffic lights. The traffic attempting to turn right was blocking the right hand straight-through lane, and was only kept from getting even longer by drivers getting frustrated and going straight instead (giving the cars behind the impression that the queue was moving, until they got close enough to see). If there had simply been "no right turn" everyone would have simply gone a different way, but to have an arrow, which indicates that turning is possible, but that only lets 3-4 cars through every 10 minutes or so, is the worst possible option.
