The reporter’s words

Quaifes Road Wetland Walk.....the one opposite Murphy's Road, Halswell. There has been no maintenance on any tracks or waterways for several months. I walk this daily. It is getting very overgrown with weeds on both the tracks, especially the ones looping through the middle, and also in the waterways. All the new planting is being threatened by the rogue weeds. Also the grass has grown so long it's definitely a fire hazard. This is a popular track for walkers, joggers and kids on their bikes, but has become so overgrown that it isn't very pleasant anymore. It is so convenient to Longhurst residents ... we don't want this to become inaccessible! (A few more weeks and it will probably be just that) It seems that all efforts have gone into the brand new Wetland area further down Quaifes Road nearer Sabys Road, and this one has been forgotten! It's not as safe for pedestrians or bikers to get to the new one from Longhurst as there are no footpaths. Please can you action some well overdue action on cleaning up this original area and put on to a regular maintenance roster. Thankyou.
