Roading/Streets

Reported Tuesday, 9 March 2021 at 12:35 pm, 100, Governors Bay Teddington Road, Allandale, Canterbury, 8971, New Zealand.

The reporter’s words

On Saturday, a motor accident led to a road closure at about 4pm. At about 8pm, know of the accident, I drove up Dyers Pass Road. When I arrived at the Sign of the Kiwi, there was no one or signage to indicate that the road closure was still in place. I drove down to Governors Bay. Still nothing. On arriving at Allandale, I met the road block. After a brief discussion with the person at the road block, we were redirected back to Governors Bay and back up the hill to the summit through the traffic lights which weren’t working properly meaning a 20 minute wait at a red light. This added an hour to my traveling time that would have been significantly less if the proper signs etc were in place. When we arrived at the bottom of Gebbies Pass, there was a person redirecting traffic. Why was there not the same consideration at the other end?
