The reporter’s words

I've just walked along Ashgrove Tce between Barrington St and Fairview St. I was dismayed at all the cars parked along the south side of Ashgrove Tce on what was grass and is now mud. The risk of sediment/mud runoff into the Õpawaho is high. Some cars were even parked by yellow lines. Time for this river bank to be fenced off? There's plenty of parking for residents on the north side of the street - but I presume many of the cars belong to students from Cashmere HS. This is becoming a real problem for the river and the sensitive riverbank, and will only increase with the whitebaiting season due to start next month. It is against Council bylaws to park on the grass verge. Why are council parking enforcement not attending to this?
