The reporter’s words
On the river bank in Wroots Rd, a deep under-runner has emerged. At its deepest, I believe it to be about 1.5m deep. There's a small opening to the larger hole, and it is not easily visible if walking along the roadside. I am concerned that a) someone, including the people who come and spray around the new planting, might fall into it and b) it might develop further and undermine the road. I believe it might have been caused by a broken pipe under the road when heavy equipment was used to remove the willow trees etc a few years ago. Would be very glad if someone could come and look at it after lockdown.
