The reporter’s words

The wetland at the corner of sparks and hendersons road has not had a full grass mow for over a year. All grass areas were well maintained for the 12 month maintenance period after it was built but since CCC has taken it over maintenance has been extremely poor. Large areas have not been mown for over a year and only small patches get mown once a month. They are full of dead weeds from last year and new weeds and gorse is coming through now. You have a sign up saying it is an active wetland and to expect long grass at times. I guess this means it will never been mown properly. This place is going to become a weed jungle if you dont maintain it. As a civil engineer i know that the grass areas dont have any performance requirements for the working wetland and as such in your maintenance manual should state that all grass areas should be mown and weeds controlled. Please either mow and maintain the grass areas regularly or provide me with the design report and maintenance manual for this wetland that proves me wrong. Cheers Sam
