Roading/Streets
Reported Saturday, 19 March 2022 at 1:38 pm, 34 London Street, Canterbury 8013, New Zealand.
The reporter’s words
The quality of the road surface on London Street (Richmond), is in poor condition, and the stormwater manhole in the centre of the London/Perth Street intersection is quite raised, and has been for more than a decade following the quakes. These factors combined are causing large trucks to literally bounce as they hit each divit and hump, resulting in quite severe ground vibration that is actually damaging people's homes in the area. Perth Street has been spray painted with markings that indicate some road urface repairs are going to happen, but local residents would actually rather London Street was fixed first as it's a much busier road, and is the source of the house damaging vibration.
