Roading/Streets
Reported Monday, 4 April 2022 at 8:09 pm, Marine Parade, Canterbury 8083, New Zealand.
The reporter’s words
As I am biking south on Marine Parade and opposite Hawke Street and the start of the 30kph shared section of road by He Puna Taimoana pools, vehicles turning right from Hawke Street into Marine Parade often pull out and cut me off or come dangerously close. Today it was a truck and I had to yell the C word at the driver. It's pretty scary and I'm running out of expletives. Later I realised it is probably because the motorists do not want to be held up behind a cyclist for the 200 metres of shared road. I wonder if a "give way to cyclists" or "chill mate it's only 200 metres" or something sign might help.
