Roading/Streets
Reported Friday, 17 March 2017 at 3:38 pm, 11, Felicitas Grove, Halswell, 8025, Canterbury.
The reporter’s words
We are becoming very sick and tired of inconsiderate people parking on the street opposite our driveway. The road is very narrow and this forces us with considerable difficulty having to drive up onto the gutter on the grass berm above the drain. As you can see from the last photo the curbing has been badly damaged from repeatedly having to drive up onto the curb to exit our driveway. When we had our driveway replaced the concrete company noticed the damaged gutter and very kindly repaired the gutter for us free of charge. However, within a fortnight the gutter was damaged due to us once again repeatedly having to drive up onto the gutter to prevent crashing into various vehicles that choose to park there. There are 3 separate parking bays with ample off street parking in our small cul-de-sac but many choose not to park in them. The other 3 photos were taken today of a house bus and trailer which have made it virtually impossible for us to exit our driveway - this is the last straw for us. One of our vehicles in particular is large so it makes the task even worse. It would be greatly appreciated if you could please paint some yellow lines on the road across from our driveway to prevent people from parking there. If you are not prepared to do this could you please arrange to have the gutter repaired at the very least.
