The reporter’s words

I am concerned that the tree on the reserve on the corner of Opawa and Brougham is starting to pose a hazard to people walking under it. The other day in strong winds a couple of school children walking home were hit by a falling branch. Lucky it was not too big and after a bit of a fright they were ok. The tree was trimmed in Christmas Eve but only a quick job and only on the side of my property they left the rest of the tree completely untouched. As we have been having warm wet weather the tree seems to have gone through a big growth spurt and with winter coming I think it would be safer if it could be trimmed right back / thinned out to prevent another person being injured simply by walking under it at the wrong time. I hope this is done before someone is seriously hurt. Andrew Mooney
