The reporter’s words

Hello Council Person Could consideration be given to removing the bamboo plants that are in the Merivale Reserve . Why is it a problem? Bamboo rapidly out-competes out other plants including native trees, forming dense stands or a mono-culture of bamboo and nothing else. Also an issue in gardens as it spreads quickly. Southland and Auckland are tackling the issue with Regional Pest Management Plan (RPMP) status. I’m not sure what Christchurch City Council’s position is on this. However what I do know is that bamboo is very invasive and very prolific. ??
