The reporter’s words

Whenever there is decent rain, it is guranteed that my toilet will backup (photo attached). This pretty much means I cannot use the toilet. It has happened 3x this month (July 2022), but has occured nemerous times over the last 2 years. Gully traps on the outside of my house do no overflow, so I am convinced it is a sewer issue on the road. Photos also attached of my street this morning. First one is looking across to Grigg Place. Street is flooded, but the sewer manhole is not surcharging. Second photo is just up the road at the intersection of Harling Ave / West-Watson Ave, and clearly shows the sewer manhole surcharging. I believe the sewer network is overwhelmed from stormwater. The stormwater network in the area tends to comprise many bubble-up sumps that are constantly clogged with debris/leaves and it just cannot cope. I suspect this results in stormwater entering the sewer network via manholes and vents. I could handle this if the toilet backed up once every few years. But this is something I now have to pre-plan everytime there is rain.
