The reporter’s words

Once again a truck got wedged at the junction of Erewhon Terrace and Rapaki road today. This seems to happen every 6-12 months. Rapaki Road, Erewhon Terrace and Montgomery Terrace were blocked to all traffic for 2 hours. This is obviously inconvenient to us residents (I was unable to drive to work which means I'll be cycling home at 10pm) and dangerous in the event of emergency access being required. As this is a recurring event I wonder if either some work needs to be done to improve the intersection or at least some signage installed to prohibit long trucks attempting to turn there. If they don't get stuck they at least do damage to the road/grass/street sign/neighbours garage. Just look at the road surface to see this. The latest culprit was a Movements International truck loaded with gib. This also brings me to the issue of indiscriminate parking all but blocking Rapaki rd every sunny evening or weekend day. A year or so back there was a flyer saying the council was going to increase parking restrictions to ensure one side of the road remained clear and the intersection similarly. Nothing seems to have happened and it just gets worse. Last Sunday was terrible. With cars parked everywhere and cyclists and walkers to avoid, the street is barely usable as a road. Residents only parking? Put the restrictions in as advertised? It would be nice to know where this project is at. Thanks for your time and thoughts Jeremy
