The reporter’s words

For many many months the maintenance of the verge on the south side of Victoria Park Rd, near Longhurst Tce, has been neglected and is causing a health and safety, and traffic hazard. The blackberry extends into the road and given this is heavily used by cyclists it is just a matter of time before someone is scratched in the face or worse in their eyes. The tree lucerne now extends further into the road than these photos show, causing a blind spot on the bend for motor vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians. I have spoken with maintenance staff working in the vicinity on several occasions but have been palmed off with the assurance that someone will be coming soon to trim it back, but no one comes and it just gets worse. Given the popularity of Victoria Park it is shameful that the gateway to the park is left in such a dangerous neglected state. Would you please attend to this with some urgency before someone is seriously injured. Kind regards, Ottilia Matravers 6 Victoria Park Rd Cashmere 021370601
