The reporter’s words

Further to my SnapSendSolve report of 22 July 2017, to which there has been no response, I have looked more closely at the drain in the gutter outside my home at 8 Westminster Street, St Albans. The overflow pipe to the St Albans Creek is completely blocked with soil and other debris. It is no wonder water in the gutter runs across my bridge instead, soaking completely my copy of ‘The Press’ enroute. It looks as if the blocked drain then heads under the footpath and hedge before entering the creek. This pipe has a large gap in it, discovered today while I was gardening in the area. I have put a temporary grate over this. The draining of storm water from the west end of Rutland Street is not my responsibility and I would be grateful if it was to be sorted before the next episode of heavy rain. Thanking you in anticipation. Jennifer Pryor
