The reporter’s words

I have had s near-death experience just now and I’m very shaken up. I parked outside the shops on corner of Cranford Street and Westminster Street to visit the cafe. Unbelievably, due to the ridiculous raising of the footpath, I am unable (being disabled and walking with two sticks) to exit my car and step straight onto the footpath. This meant I had to walk on the outside of the parked cars, on the road!! I had to walk the full length on the road until I came to a section by the bus stop which is of a height I can step across. This is a very busy road and several large trucks wihizzed past me making me feel very unsafe. I was right to feel shaky, because one particular very large truck came scarily close to me as he roared past. This is s shocking situation. I’m not sure what the designer/engineer of this “footpath” was thinking but why on earth are there no cut thoughs with a handrail so people like me can be safe. Obviously these people have no idea what it means to be disabled. I will never use these shops again until, hopefully, someone views this debacle and realises it is a death trap. And the council will be wholly responsible if the unthinkable happens. With all the Health and Safety rules in place these days, I’m astonished this has been allowed to be constructed this way.
