The reporter’s words

This is the footpath outside of the compound being used by Downer for the Dudley Creek remediation work. It is the site of the old Shirley Community Centre. It is near Shirley Primary School, and lots of children walk along the footpath to get to and from school. There is a deep gutter on the road-side of the footpath, further narrowing the usable space to safely walk. The grass is very long and obstructs the footpath, making it hard to pass people and use the width of the footpath. It will be worse as the weather cools and dew or rain cause the grass to further obstruct the path. Is it possible to have this stretch of grass mowed or strimmed? The section to the north on Slater Street is maintained as a park, with the verge mowed and sprayed - it’s not clear why this section around the compound is completely unmaintained (other than the safety fencing bases making mowing more difficult). Thanks
