Roading/Streets
Reported Tuesday, 20 March 2018 at 7:35 pm, 11, Dunvegan Place, Harewood, 8051, Canterbury.
The reporter’s words
Every Tuesday Skyedale Drive and surrounding streets get a huge influx of cars due to sports at Nunweek Park. The cars are parked on both sides of the road and it is nearly impossible to get to our homes. The people are so concerned you are going to get to a potential park that they do u-turns and block the road to get to a parking spot. They park to the corners of roads, are aggressive and it is a small miracle that there have not been any crashes here. But most concerning is that the children, obviously excited to see their friends, dart from behind cars into the traffic and cars are not able to move over due to there not being any room to go sideways. Over the last 4 years this has become a huge issue and it has now become a case of “when” rather than “what if” a child gets run over. We need yellow lines placed on the park side and more car parks created for these sports teams to play. It is ridiculous that we can’t park in front of our home or even in our own subdivision without being abused. Please come and sort this out.
