Overgrown Vegetation
Reported Monday, 4 December 2023 at 6:49 pm, CP53+HP Bridle Path Rest Area - seat, Heathcote Valley, Christchurch 8022, New Zealand.
The reporter’s words
There is significant overgrowth on the Kahukura track, that goes from this corner of the Bridle Path up to Castle Rock. A member of the public was seen weed-whacking the lower Kahukura track on Sunday, 3/12, but the upper track remains very overgrown. Despite the track sign and stile over the fence by the Bridle Path being removed post earthquakes, this track is still used by members of the public (I have seen >5 different people on this track in the last 1 month). Given that rock climbing has resumed on Castle Rock, and the Kahukura track is still being used (with original marking posts still in situ along the track), I think the CCC needs to keep this track clear again, rather than members of the public needing to keep a Port Hills track usable.
