Yellow flag iris (Iris pseudacorus) is established along the pond edge. This species is a serious wetland weed that only gets harder to get rid of the longer it is left. It is classified as an unwanted organism under the National Pest Plant Accord. It also has the potential to become a very expensive problem if it spreads to the retention ponds and basins like the one on Sparks Road and the new one near Halswell Quarry. The sooner it is dealt with the better.
