Pest / Vermin
Reported Saturday, 4 January 2025 at 5:27 pm, Okains Bay campground Okains Bay Road, Okains Bay, New Zealand.
The reporter’s words
There is a family of weasels (I think they are too small and darker brown so not ferrets) living in the undergrowth. I just saw him trying to catch a Californian quail male who was protecting his family. We reported the sightings to the staff here but they said the Pest Control people nor Council were interested in catching them. For what is worth you need to put a pipe of about 20cm diameter in the middle of the grounds with a trap at the end. You don't even need bait. We have caught hundreds.
