Roads - General
Reported Tuesday, 28 January 2025 at 5:15 pm, Summit Road, Canterbury 8971, New Zealand.
The reporter’s words
New block wall is eroding on both sides. This slip occurred after the culvert above was blocked by a slip, and another small slip blocked the roadside drain opposite this resulting in water running over the edge of the road and it slipping. The block wall installation is inadequate as more soil is eroding each time it rains. It was fairly stable prior to installation of the block wall, as the ground here is generally fairly dry.
