Roading/Streets
Reported Monday, 29 April 2019 at 6:11 pm, 42, Aidanfield Drive, Halswell, 8025, Canterbury.
The reporter’s words
The council have recently put parking bays in at Aidanfield Christian School. Although we have been fighting for years to get street parking for the school. These bays actually cause more problems than they solve. There are no where near enough of them. The bays will only hold 8 cars in total and they have been given a 3 minute limit. It is impossible to get into school drop off/collect a child and back again in 3 minutes. Also the sign states that we cannot park there during the day. How are we supposed to transport children to gymnastics and winter sports and other school trips if we cannot park in the bays? It’s ridiculous. Please take down the signs. Replace it with a sign that says ‘school parking only’ and we will actually be able to use the bays. And add another 4 or 5 bays along the road. This is a dangerous road with speeding cars and speeding buses. A child is going to get seriously hurt on this road and the council will be at fault. We need safe parking.
