The reporter’s words

Recently when I’ve been travelling along Lodestar Avenue (towards Curletts Rd) and going through the Hayton Rd roundabout I’ve had difficulty in determining whether vehicles approaching the other side of the roundabout are turning right or going straight ahead. This is because the height of the Lodestar Ave sign on the actual roundabout is approximately twice as high off the ground as the other road signs on the roundabout and is it’s placement is exactly where the indicator lights are on a lot of vehicles. Also the height of the plantings in the centre of the roundabout is similar to the of a regular car and it obstructs any view of vehicles approaching from that direction. As you cannot tell if a vehicle is turning I have often waited until I was 100% certain before entering the roundabout. This has caused drivers behind me to become impatient and apply their horns. I have observed many people approaching roundabouts at speed with no intention of giving way but that is not the way I drive. In order for myself and others who do follow the give way rules to drive safely through this roundabout I request that you consider lowering both the height of the Lodestar Ave sign and also the vegetation or replant with slower growing/lower varieties. Regards Tonya Frew
