Water Pollution - Sediment
Reported Sunday, 30 November 2025 at 4:25 pm, Canterbury, Christchurch 8024, New Zealand.
The reporter’s words
My son and I have been biking around Cashmere High School for the past few years. As a result, we notice when things change, especially for the worse. The river that runs through the school has started getting large amounts of what looks like algae. We have noticed someone has completely blocked up the south end of the river on the school grounds by putting large amounts of sticks in the river. As a result the water has stoped flowing, probably causing the algae buildup.
