The reporter’s words
Near miss at traffic island. 3.15pm yesterday, kids coming out from school crossing wairakei road at island outside The Willows ECE. Traffic stopped to let kids cross. Cyclist didn’t see child crossing and had to swerve to avoid a collision. I have heard this happening with another child a few months ago & cyclist and child collided. There is a need for a safer road crossing here so both pedestrians and cyclists are safe.
