Overgrown Vegetation
Reported Wednesday, 7 January 2026 at 5:16 pm, Halswell Junction Road, Canterbury Region 8025, New Zealand.
The reporter’s words
This busy roundabout (RAB) is heavily overgrown with tall weeds which effectively destroy road users lines of sight. It makes it difficult or impossible to detect traffic already on the the RAB hence these vehicles can loom dangerously on vehicles entering the RAB.The NZTA "Safer Journeys" doctrine specifically stated the danger of restricted vision on bends and intersections with the need for vegetation trimming or removal being paramount. The risk is even higher for motorcyclists. Fire hazard!
