Roading/Streets
Reported Friday, 9 August 2019 at 2:07 pm, Marshland Rd near Mcsaveneys Rd, Canterbury 8083, New Zealand.
The reporter’s words
There were a few issues this morning. 1- The stop / go sign mid way down this road was not visible as the person holding the sign was located at the front of the lorry on the passenger side instead of being at the back of the lorry on the drivers side like almost every other stop / go people are located so they can be seen by upcoming traffic. 2 - As we couldn't see the stop / go sign my wife continued to drive down the road until all the people in the lorries tooted their horns and we stopped. At that point one of the staff (photo #3) approached my wife and started shouting at her saying there were stop / go signs and to drive back to where they were. This person was overly and unnecessarily aggressive and just kept shouting. 3 - When we drove back down to where the person shouted at us to go to, the stop / go sign was still not visible (photo #2)and the person continued to hold it on the stop side even though there was no ongoing traffic. In the end we decided to turn around and go the longer way home via Marshland Road. 4 - Once we were back at the Marshland Road end of the street the sign had been moved however it was still not visible from the road (photo #1)
