Traffic Signals
Reported Thursday, 12 March 2026 at 5:35 pm, 29 Hawkshead Way, Westmorland, Christchurch 8025, New Zealand.
The reporter’s words
Traffic lights on roadworks on worsleys road are on a ridiculous timer cycle, red light in both directions for 3 min then green light for only 30 seconds, when the stretch of road being worked on takes less than 30 seconds to drive at 30 kph. There’s no sensor to detect waiting cars. Some people get so frustrated waiting for no one to come they drive on a red light. Initially when the signals were placed it was much more sensible, something like 1min red 30 sec green.
