Trees - General
Reported Thursday, 12 March 2026 at 7:13 pm, 40 Ocean View Tce, Canterbury, Christchurch 8081, New Zealand.
The reporter’s words
A large eucalyptus Corymbia Ficifolia situated just beyond our property line on council land has developed a precarious lean. If it falls there may be a chance of it reaching Evans Pass Rd below. This would be a significant danger, given the volume and speed of traffic (cars and fast downhill cyclists). The tree is in the order of 15m tall. We love the tree as it is a favoured roost of bellbirds, so we observe it a lot. The significant lean seems to have developed in the last 10 days or so.
