General Request
Reported Tuesday, 21 April 2026 at 9:03 am, 70 Pembroke St, Canterbury, Christchurch 8061, New Zealand.
The reporter’s words
I appreciate the construction of the next phase of cycleway, but a closure is a closure and should be signposted accordingly. This morning I was greeted by a fence across Pembroke Street. I approach from Cardrona Street, so some sort of diversion signage would have been helpful. This is not dis-similar to when Avonside Drive was closed off, but at least some signage did eventually appear. It’s almost as though cyclists don’t matter. Even during the construction of a cycleway.
