Litter
Reported Sunday, 26 April 2026 at 8:12 am, 22B Esplanade, Sumner, Christchurch 8081, New Zealand.
The reporter’s words
There was a partially burnt but still active Flamingo scooter in the Sumner beach cave next to a rubbish bin which was likely used to bring it to the cave in the first place. We've removed it from the cave and bright it to an easier place for collection and it won't be swamped with ocean water in the next tide this way. Perhaps some one wanted to see a lithium fire and failed? It would have happened since the last high tide.
