Noise - General
Reported Friday, 8 May 2026 at 1:12 am, State Highway 76, Canterbury Region 8024, New Zealand.
The reporter’s words
Have been trying to locate the source of excessive overnight noise and I think perhaps it is the southern flyover. Why were acoustic barriers not installed to prevent road and traffic noise from carrying directly across A&P showgrounds to the nearby areas of Hillmorton and Lincoln Road?? Being an elevated overpass the noise carries far further and louder than if it was as ground level, also being amplified by the empty space directly underneath with nothing to absorb or block the noise!
