The reporter’s words

Is there something that can be done with the metal surface on the ‘roundabout’ at the new Sumner playground? My 2 yr old stood on it for less than a second before screaming in pain with the heat. Took 10 minutes to calm her down. Tested the surface myself and it was too hot for me to stand on. It was a hot day (about 24 degrees when it happened, but not full sun), and I understand that some surfaces heat up in these conditions. But in a relatively new and well thought out park, with excellent facilities, I am surprised that this kind of surface is allowed. Summer will bring hotter days, and more children will burn their feet. Can it not be covered with a surface other than metal? Thanks
